West Aspen is defined as the area between Aspen Pitkin County Airport, known as Sardy Field, and the West End. Located less than a mile to the Core and the public school campus, West Aspen is connected by a network of hiking and biking trails.
Cemetery Lane offers mostly older townhouse and duplex units, single-family homes, and some newly constructed houses and country estates. Many homes border the Aspen Public Golf Course, which boasts stunning, panoramic views of Pyramid Peak and the Maroon Bells. Riverfront properties can be found along Red Butte Drive.
The Five Trees area is one of Aspen’s most recent developments, ascending a hillside behind the Aspen public school campus. All of these single-family homes offer ski-in/out access to Aspen Highlands and memorable sunset views.
Aspen Highlands is home to the locals’ favorite ski mountain, as well as some spectacular ski-in/out homes and townhomes.
The Maroon Creek Club sports a challenging private golf course and indoor tennis facility and an enclave of single-family homes, villas, and townhomes. Adjacent to the Maroon Creek Club is the Double Bar X development.
West Aspen’s most dramatic top-of-the-world views are located along McLain Flats Road and in Starwood. These areas offer dramatic panoramic vistas from Independence Pass to Mt. Sopris and wide-open spaces along with exquisite homes that some would call lodge-mansions. Just above McClain Flats on a bench sits Starwood, Aspen’s only 24 hours manned, gated community.
West Aspen is a hub of activity. All four ski areas are within a short distance, and the area provides easy access to Aspen’s Core, which beckons with shopping, dining, and nightlife options. In the summertime, water activities such as rafting and fly fishing in Colorado’s gold medal rivers provide true adventures.
